Gennaro (cover)

James Danner, tenor, is a graduate of the Harvard-NEC AB/MM program, and recently completed a Professional Studies Diploma at Mannes. A professional since the age of 5, James spent ten seasons at the Metropolitan Opera as a chorus member and soloist both there and at many of the major halls in the Northeast. Equally at ease in tomorrow’s music as in the old, James’ most recent season encompassed Purcell and the Spanish Renaissance to new operas, with Rossini and Boieldieu in between.

A 2023 Fargo-Moorhead Opera Gate City Bank Young Artist, James’ upcoming performances include Ricky and The Lover in Love Bites, and Rodolfo (cover) in La Boheme, in addition to performances this summer with Teatro Nuovo in their upcoming production of Poliuto and a Culpeper Arts Residency from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund.

A Founding Director of arts non-profit, Amanda + James, he has worked with over 250 artists in a wide range of media for the past eight years as an executive and creative producer, curator of the Summer Happenings Festivals, Pollinate, Sessions and [working titles] programs, and director. His directorial work has been presented at BFI in Miami, Florida, and at venues across NYC: Christie’s, Ludlow House, SHOWFIELDS, and Pioneer Works.
