“Sparkling” mezzo-soprano Madison Marie McIntosh has been praised for her “wondrously flexible voice” and “prodigious vocal skills” (Voce di Meche). OperaWire has praised her “vocal power,” “enchanting voice,” and “velvety mezzo-soprano.”

 

In 2019, Madison will perform the title role of Carmen with Hudson Opera Theatre. This past summer, she was a Resident Artist in the inaugural season of Will Crutchfield’s Teatro Nuovo. She sang the Eco and covered the title role in Tancredi “rifatto.” She was then featured in the title role of Handel’s Giulio Cesare as a guest artist with Connecticut Lyric Opera. In September, she appeared as Hansel in Hansel and Gretel with Opera Theatre of Montclair. At Caramoor in 2017, Madison performed the role of Ernesta in Un avvertimento ai gelosi, by Manuel García. In 2014, she worked with Maestro Alberto Zedda as a young artist of the Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro and performed the role of Delia in the Rossini Opera Festival’s production of Il viaggio a Reims. During the 2016/17 season, she sang Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Dido (Dido and Aeneas), Sara (Roberto Devereux), Angelina (La Cenerentola), and Giovanna Seymour (Anna Bolena). Later in 2017, she reprised the role of Angelina with Opera Theatre of Montclair, made her role debut as Isabella (L’Italiana in Algeri), reprised the role of Rosina with Vocal Productions NYC, and was the Alto Soloist in New Amsterdam Opera’s performances of Handel’s Messiah. Madison was an Apprentice Artist at Sarasota Opera during the winter of 2018 and sang the Marchande in Carmen. This season, she won First Prize in the Vienna Summer Music Festival Vocal Competition and a full scholarship to join the Festival as Prinz Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus. Later in the summer, she will join Eve Queler as a soloist in her 25th annual Bel Canto Opera Concert in Blandford, Massachusetts. 

 

Madison has sung lead roles in the world premieres of four operas by composer Theodore Christman and premiered song cycles by composers such as Peter Breiner. She has performed in venues such as Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Bruno Walter Auditorium, Symphony Space, and The DiMenna Center.
